I seem to paint florals in the winter when it's snowing. The warmth of their glow, warms my soul and just plain feels right! Living in Utah definately makes me love flowers when it's cold outside!
There's a gulf between single and married people. When you divorce, sometimes it's hard to hang out with your married friends. Things get awkward for some reason. You have to stand up and make new single friends. You have to grow!
I have a thing for trees. I like their deep roots and the way they bend in a breeze. Most of my landscapes have trees grounding them. I also love the red rocks of Southern Utah. Have to paint what I love!
I'm so literal that painting an abstract is contrary to my nature. I had a blast!!! Such fun and freedom. Art therapy at it's best!
When I first started painting, I took an amazing amount of time and painted with great detail. Very hard to make a living that way! These paintings have all my heart and most of my soul in them (and way too much of my time!).
In 2001 I took a collage workshop from Gerald Brommer. He influenced my works, my designs and my mediums. Painting with paper is one of my very favorite techniques! I love the textures that the different papers offer. I stain them with watercolor and put them down with acrylic. Love the added demention the layers add to the surface. So fun and interesting to me....!
“I Love Lizards” (and other things)! They’re lizards, frogs & spiders that are magnetic pins. I drill, glue & hand paint each and every one with love. They're attention grabbers when on your collar or your visor! Who doesn't love a glittery spider?!! : )
